On November 25, 1034 .......
– Malcolm II of Scotland died. Duncan, the son of his second daughter, instead of Macbeth, the son of his eldest daughter, inherited the throne to become the King of Scots.
So, not only did he kill his King, he killed his cousin. What's the word for that ? Cousicide ? Macbeth hath murdered sleep indeed.

The Vacuum Man
My Grandpa Gregg was an incredible man. He really could do anything - it wasn't just the awe of a young child. Scouted in high school in small town Ohio for both professional baseball and basketball, he was not embittered when his sociopath father kept him on the farm for the cheap labor. He was loving and kind and he spoiled me.....ohh!! so much. He played endless games with me and bought me a Pong !
When he married my grandma, he farmed fulltime and worked at the foundry AND drove a bread route. She didn't like people working on the Lord's day, so he would work all night in the fields by the tractor lights so he could oblige her.
Then he discovered vacuums and his world would never be the same. His first month of selling vacuums in the tiny, tiny town of Bellville, Ohio and he was the #2 salesman in his district. Not a bad start right ? His 2nd month on the job he was #1 in the nation and he never looked back.
I salute my Grandpa, the Vacuum Man, and all that he was and that he gave me. I am a lucky, lucky girl.

NPR .... making me cry again
On Morning Edition today, John Feinstein's coverage of the Navy/Notre Dame game was like hearing Hoosiers on the radio. In my mind's eye I could just see the cast, imagine the background stories of these, underdogs, these overcomers........You go Zerbin Singleton !
....and I don't even like sports!

Anneke, Me and Laura B.......
Yes that is me with the First Lady !I was privileged to attend the National Book Festival Breakfast at the White House with my sister Anneke.
The food was fantastic and the atmosphere even better. I am so fortunate to have been able to experience this! I had full access the entire East Wing of the White House ! I was allowed to sit on chairs take all the pictures I wanted ..... unbelievable !! I know this sounds hackneyed, but I got to touch feel and breath history. Of course, the beautiful Sargent on the wall didn't hurt either.
Below are the links to the event and the First Lady's Speech.

In the Beginning.....
Well, what can ever really be said in a seminal effort that one does not regret with the advent of experience and the passing of time ? So, let me be simple in this, my freshman effort !
This is to be my chronical of a year of travel, experience, exploration, life, joy, God, decisions, consequences, struggle and discovery. All the disparate stuff of the universe - or of my own personal subjective universe - detailed, but never boring.
Well here goes...... "Once more into the breach, dear friends, once more ! ......
